Breaking Boundaries: Dr. Pau Loke Show’s Innovations in Protein Processing for Human Consumption

Professor Ir Ts Dr. Show Pau Loke is revolutionizing protein processing for human consumption through innovative research. His team has developed a groundbreaking technique to extract proteins efficiently from waste by-products using microorganisms. These proteins, essential for food security, are purified using a bio-separation method called liquid biphasic flotation, resulting in a highly efficient process. Beyond human consumption, their research extends to producing proteins for animal feed, utilizing expired milk to create cheese for livestock. Collaborating with partners from Japan, China, Taiwan, and local universities, as well as industry players, his work addresses real-world needs in the milk industry and healthcare sector. Dr. Show’s future plans involve refining the bioprocessing system and exploring applications in carbohydrates and lipids from microalgae. With a focus on sustainability and expanding research horizons, his vision encompasses enhancing food security and diversifying Malaysia’s livestock market.

Congratulations to Show Pau Loke on winning Young Chemical Engineer in Research Award!

The Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) marked a decade of impactful presence in Malaysia with a grand celebration at the Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, during its annual Awards dinner. Acknowledging exceptional achievements within the Malaysian chemical engineering community, the event the event concluded the second leg of the Institution’s Global Awards programme. Among the distinguished honorees was Pau Loke Show from the University of Nottingham Malaysia, celebrated for his significant contributions to bioprocessing, evidenced by his impressive portfolio of over 33 journal publications.
